Conferences at the Center for Hellenic Studies

Recent Conference

CorHaLi XVII: Hesiod and the Gods
The Center for Hellenic Studies hosted this symposium on June 12-14, 2006.

Overview of Conferences and Colloquia

The Center for Hellenic Studies hosts several conferences and colloquia during the year which feature Hellenic scholars from around the world.  These conferences and colloquia focus on issues in Hellenic or Classical Studies and are organized by CHS fellows and staff or by other organizations.  Past conferences have covered such topics as Greek Priests, Theocritus, and Posidippus.

The CHS presents a variety of conferences and collaborative events on an annual basis. We at the CHS are committed to developing new models and methods for academic conferences, the dissemination of research, and collaborative projects. Therefore we are most interested in proposals that foster a more creative dialogue and move beyond a formal presentation of papers mediated only by moderators and respondents. Possible components of a conference might be: 1) a workshop format (especially one that includes collaboration among participants even before an event as well as during and after); 2) using various means of electronic communication; and 3) methods of dissemination that will bring research to a broad audience. The CHS would like to encourage innovative ways of producing and publishing new ideas and findings in the Classics field.

If you are interested in organizing at conference or colloquia at the CHS, please read our Conference and Colloquia Guidelines and contact us.
