CHS & the Association of Philologists from the Argolid

The Center for Hellenic Studies, Harvard University and the Association of Philologists from the Argolid (Greek acronym: ΣΦΑ) hold an ongoing collaboration up to this day. As the Center holds at its core the promotion of the Hellenic culture, the training and cooperation with philologists/literature teachers stands high among the Center’s academic interests. Both the Center and the Association cooperate in activities such as:

The “Digital Resources of Knowledge and their Contribution to Philology” Workshop

The Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece offers the workshop “Digital resources of knowledge and their contribution to philology”. This workshop aims at introducing Greek literature teachers to concepts such as digital literacy and information fluency, with emphasis on digital resources in the humanities, both in Greek and English. The Association of Philologists from the Argolid supports this workshop, its members participating either as coordinators or attendees. Ever since its first iteration in 2014 and over the years, the workshop has offered advanced training to more than a hundred of participating literature teachers from the Argolid, but also from the Peloponnese and throughout Greece. The Counselor for Philologists in the Argolid, Dr. Dimitris Giannakopoulos has participated as a rapporteur of relevant thematic units and members of the Association who are advanced users of digital resources for literature teachers are invited as coordinators of some sessions of the workshops, to share their knowledge with their colleagues.

CHS GR, in cooperation with the Association of Philologists from the Argolid, on the occasion of the workshop of May 2016, also organized an event addressed to all interested literature teachers. Dr. Vassilis Vassileiadis, scientific researcher at the Center for the Greek Language, gave an open lecture at the CHS GR on the topic: “ Psifides and Proteas: digital resources for the Greek language and language education. A Tool, a digital content repository or something more?” Dr. Vassileiadis, participated in the workshop and introduced the participants to the platforms Proteas and Psifides, both of which are used for teaching literature courses.
