From May 31 until July 5, 2017, students from American and Greek universities serve as interns at cultural institutions in Nafplio, Greece. In addition to their internship responsibilities, students develop a research project with the guidance of a faculty mentor, and tour cultural and archaeological sites in the Argolid region and in Athens. Learn more about the program here.
The students are twelve in total. The six students below are occupied at the Municipal Organization of Culture, Environment, Sports, and Tourism (DOPPAT), contributing to projects in the city and for the city of Nafplio.
“Our first project is working with cruise companies to find ways Nafplio can improve the experience of tourists visiting the town. Additionally, we are working on developing relations with Nafplio’s sister town of Ottobrunn by creating a school project that can be utilized in both towns to explore the joint history of King Otto.”–DOPPAT Interns
Dimitra Dalampini, Democritus University of Thrace
My name is Dimitra Dalampini and currently I study at Democritus University of Thrace at the Department of Political Science. During my studies, l realized the importance of becoming acquainted with the conference organization sector, so I attended specific seminars and conferences. During the third year of my studies, I was more than eager to help students broaden their horizons and open up new opportunities in our University. I gained valuable experience learning how to organize a constructive schedule and I really enjoyed it. I am particularly interested in running seminars and workshops due to my organizational and managerial skills. In the future, I would like to continue my studies in the field of international relations and risk management, the two top priorities in my interests.

In addition to enjoying coding, I also enjoy working on the Communications team for Dreamporte which is a student run startup focused on bringing virtual reality curriculum to elementary and middle school students. Outside of school, I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, spending time outdoors, and reading historical novels. I am still unsure about what I would like to do after graduation.
Sarah Perlmutter, Harvard University
My name is Sarah Perlmutter. I was raised in Berkeley, California (basically a college town full of hippies, for those of you unfamiliar with it). At Harvard I study Social Studies, and I also do a lot of photography work in the Visual Studies department. Outside of classes, I spend some of my time helping to run an after-school program in an underserved neighborhood in Boston. I have no idea what I want to do after college, but I am hoping to travel for a while and pursue my photography in a way that can intersect with my interest in social theory.

Christos Tseronis , National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
My name is Christos Tseronis and I am studying political science and public administration, undertaking a specialization in political analysis (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens). I am currently writing my junior thesis on the effects of internet and digital media in political behavior and democracy. My main academic/research interest may be described as the interplay between politics and communication, while I am very keen on topics related to gender and sexuality, political participation inequalities and social justice movements and activism. Non-academically, I love literature (especially modernist American and realist Russian literature), modern and contemporary art, jazz and blues music, while I am trying to gain some basic photography skills. After graduating in June, I plan to search for job or internship opportunities in political and social communication and campaigning in the UK, France or the American East Coast, for the year to come. Hopefully I will continue my studies on postgraduate level in September 2018 on the field of political communication.
