2017 CHS GR Summer Internship Program | Meet the Museum Interns!

From May 31 until July 5, 2017, students from American and Greek universities serve as interns at cultural institutions in Nafplio, Greece. In addition to their internship responsibilities, students develop a research project with the guidance of a faculty mentor, and tour cultural and archaeological sites in the Argolid region and in Athens. Learn more about the program here.

The students are twelve in total. The two students below are occupied at the Nafplio Archaeological Museum.

“Through the CHS we participate in an internship at the Archaeological Museum of Nafplio. We contribute to the electronic archive of the museum’s artifacts by taking photographs of the findings from archaeological digs at Midea. Throughout the program have been visiting the various archaeological sites that surround Nafplio while also preparing “tours” for the other students of sites such as the Franchthi cave. The sites we have visited throughout the 5 week program include: Midea, Mycenae, Dendra, Lerna, Tyrins, Heraion, Theatre and Agora of Argos, Asine.”–Museum Interns

Pantelis Kyrkos, University of Ioannina

My name is Pantelis Kyrkos and I study Archaeology at the University of Ioannina. I am interested aesthetics and archaeology and sociology of the body. I’ve participated in two National Archaeology Students’ Conferences with the speeches ”Thought, ideas and emotions for the human body in Ancient Greece” and ”Passive body: gender, image, interpretation”. During my free time, I love traveling with my friends. Also, I like hiking, mountaineering and everything that has to do with nature; swimming in Epirus rivers is the most luxurious experience I could have. However, I will be in Rome for an Erasmus+ placement in spring 2018 and, after my graduation, I will try to attend an M.A. in Classical Archaeology or Sociology of Art.
