Cato's sive circumagi sive circumferenda is an interesting case from the perspective of primitive Indo-European conceptions of moveable property. Circum-agō must reference, in an expected way, the driving of the mature suovetaurilia (the triple sacrifice of pig-sheep-bull) around the periphery of the space to be purified; while circum-ferō looks to be the action performed when the triple sacrifice consists of, alternatively, "suckling" victims, treated as if they were non-animate items of wealth (to be picked up and carried).
