The Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies (CHS), a research institution devoted to the study of all aspects of ancient Hellenic civilization, seeks an intern to serve as an office assistant from September 1, 2017-May 1, 2018.

Hours

Part-time, approximately 10 hours per week, $14.00/hour. The CHS is open 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, and the intern can choose to work flexible hours within this timeframe. The intern should be able to work at least three consecutive hours on a designated work day. Availability on Mondays and Fridays is highly preferred.
The intern should expect to work occasional weekends or evenings when the CHS is hosting an event, such as a research symposium, course planning workshop, or event reception.
The CHS is closed for all federal holidays and for a winter break, December 25, 2017-January 1, 2018.

Duties

The intern’s responsibilities are primarily administrative. The intern will provide assistance to CHS visitors, answer phones, sort mail, mail packages, and provide other clerical and administrative assistance as required. Additionally, the intern will compile and edit promotional materials, write blog posts to introduce visiting scholars, and assist with preparations for special events, such as exhibition openings.
Other duties may include but will not be limited to processing applications for programs and editing videos or other media produced by the CHS.
The intern will report to the administrative director and the programs managers, but should expect to work with and assist a range of staff members, particularly from administrative, hospitality, and social media teams.
The intern will use Mac OS X and Microsoft Office. Interns will also learn and work with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Google Documents, web-based programs and sites such as Sakai and WordPress, and any other necessary softwares.
