From June 1 to August 1, 2015, the Center for Hellenic Studies (CHS) Summer Internship Program will employ undergraduate students at the CHS campus in the heart of Washington, DC to work in conjunction with CHS directors, staff, and affiliates on projects related to Publications and Curricular Development.
Over the course of the summer, interns will work approximately 270 hours, typically 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday, with an hour break for lunch. Hourly salary will be $12.00, and interns will have full access to library resources and the opportunity to engage with a diverse scholarly community.
Publications interns will aid in the creation, editing, and maintenance of online scholarly resources. Duties will include conversion of Word documents into multiple formats, editing and validation of XML files, proofreading, and work with HTML and e-book editing platforms.
Curricular Development interns will assist the CHS programs coordinators with conducting 5 summer seminars. They will provide assistance to participants, control the live web stream and video recording equipment, and project materials related to the discussions at hand (e.g. seminar agenda, readings, web pages, videos, maps, etc.). Interns are expected to be intellectually engaged in the seminar proceedings by taking notes, participating in discussions, and following the readings.
The interns will typically work from 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday; however, the schedule and number of hours vary heavily during seminars and conferences and interns should expect to work some weekends.
