Ξεκινά στις 5 Δεκεμβρίου η ετήσια σειρά εκδηλώσεων του Κέντρου Ελληνικών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Harvard, Events Series 2019.
Ο εφετινός κύκλος εκδηλώσεων (Events Series 2019) επικεντρώνεται σε θέματα Πολιτισμού, Παιδείας και Πολιτικής. Διακεκριμένοι Έλληνες και ξένοι επιστήμονες θα μιλήσουν για ζητήματα γεωπολιτικής σημασίας, αρχιτεκτονικής κληρονομιάς, και για τη λατινική, βυζαντινή, νεοελληνική και παγκόσμια λογοτεχνία. Από τη Ρώμη και το Βυζάντιο, έως τη Γενιά του Τριάντα, τη σύγχρονη Ελλάδα αλλά και πέρα από αυτήν, οι διαλέξεις θα εξετάσουν μια ποικιλία θεμάτων, αξιοποιώντας τις τελευταίες τάσεις στην έρευνα των ανθρωπιστικών και κοινωνικών σπουδών.
Το Events Series 2019 περιλαμβάνει επτά διαλέξεις. Ξεκινάει στις 5 Δεκεμβρίου 2018 και θα ολοκληρωθεί τον Ιούνιο του 2019. Οι ομιλίες θα πραγματοποιηθούν στο Ναύπλιο, στην Αθήνα, στο Ρέθυμνο, τη Θεσσαλονίκη και την Πάτρα. Ο εφετινός κύκλος πραγματοποιείται σε συνεργασία με τη Φιλεκπαιδευτική Εταιρεία, την Εθνική Βιβλιοθήκη της Ελλάδος, το Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών, το Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης, το MOMus-Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης, τον Σύλλογο Αποφοίτων του Πανεπιστημίου Harvard στην Ελλάδα και τον Δήμο Ναυπλιέων.

Events Series 2019
“Culture, Education and Politics”
The annual Harvard CHS GR Events Series 2019 commences on December 5.
This year’s Events Series 2019 is concerned with issues of Culture, Education and Politics. Prominent Greek and foreign scholars will engage with matters of geopolitical importance, architectural heritage, as well as with Latin, Byzantine, modern Greek and World Literature. From Rome and Byzantium to the Generation of the ‘30s, contemporary Greece and beyond, the lectures will focus on a variety of topics, employing the latest trends of research in the fields of humanities and social studies.
The Events Series 2019 includes seven lectures that begin on December 5, 2018 and continue through June 2019. The lectures will take place in Nafplio, Athens, Rethymno, Thessaloniki, and Patras. The institutions collaborating in the implementation of the current program include the Society for the Promotion of Education and Learning, the National Library of Greece, the University of Patras, the University of Crete, the MOMus-Museum of Contemporary Art, the Harvard Club of Greece, and the Municipality of Nafplio.

Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece (CHS GR) is dedicated to the promotion of the study of Greek culture in a broad sense and to the enhancement of its humanist values. The Center extends Harvard University’s global engagement and complements its mission through a variety of research and educational activities in Nafplio and other cities in Greece. The initiatives and activities, addressed to the general public, include the annual series of lectures by distinguished intellectuals and in particular, experts from Greek and foreign universities.
