Εκδήλωση ΚΕΣ
Με χαρά σας προσκαλούμε την Τετάρτη 11 Μαρτίου, 2020, στις 19:00, στην εκδήλωση με θέμα:
«Περί φύσεως: Από τους “φυσιολόγους” της Ιωνίας στη σύγχρονη οικολογία»
Ομιλητής: Θεόδωρος Παπαγγελής, Καθηγητής Λατινικής Φιλολογίας, Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης, & Τακτικό Μέλος Ακαδημίας Αθηνών
Η εκδήλωση θα λάβει χώρα στο Φοιτητικό και Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο «Ξενία» στο Ρέθυμνο. Η ομιλία θα γίνει στα Ελληνικά. Πέρας εκδήλωσης στις 20:30.
Η εκδήλωση πραγματοποιείται σε συνεργασία με το Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης.

Σύντομη περίληψη της ομιλίας
Ανασκόπηση των αντιλήψεων για τη φύση ως οντολογικό παράγοντα και φυσικό περιβάλλον με έμφαση στο αντιθετικό ζεύγος φύση-πολιτισμός. Ο ελληνικός φιλοσοφικός στοχασμός, ο χριστιανισμός, ο Ρομαντισμός και οι τροπές της σύγχρονης περιβαλλοντικής και οικολογικής συζήτησης αποτελούν, μεταξύ άλλων, τους σημαντικότερους κόμβους της παρουσίασης.
Σύντομο βιογραφικό σημείωμα του Θεόδωρου Παπαγγελή
Ο Θεόδωρος Παπαγγελής σπούδασε κλασική φιλολογία στο Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης και στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Cambridge. Ασχολήθηκε κυρίως με τη λατινική ποίηση της εποχής του Αυγούστου. Μετέφρασε την Ερωτική Τέχνη και τις Μεταμορφώσεις (ανθολόγιο) του Οβιδίου, και πιο πρόσφατα την Αινειάδα του Βιργιλίου. Είναι καθηγητής της Λατινικής Φιλολογίας στο ΑΠΘ και από το 2013 τακτικό μέλος της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών.

Speaker: Theodore Papanghelis, Professor of Latin, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, & Ordinary Member of the Academy of Athens
The event will be held at the Student Cultural Center “Xenia” in Rethymno. The lecture will be delivered in Greek. The event will last until 20:30.
The event will be held in collaboration with the University of Crete.

Synopsis of the lecture
Overview of perceptions about nature as an ontological factor and natural environment with an emphasis on the contrasting pair of nature-culture. Greek philosophical reflection, Christianity, Romanticism and the modes of contemporary environmental and ecological debate are among the most important nodes of the presentation.
Theodore Papanghelis’ brief resume
Theodore Papanghelis studied Classics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Cambridge. He mainly dealt with the Latin poetry of the age of Augustus. He translated Ovid’s The Art of Love and Metamorphoses, and more recently Virgil’s Aeneid. He is a professor of Latin Literature at AUTh and since 2013 an ordinary member of the Academy of Athens.
