April 21-26th
This week, Dr. Georgia Kolovou, Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Nanterre, will be staying at the CHS and using the library. Currently, Dr. Kolovou works on the scholia to Homer’s Iliad. Her project has two parts: the first consists of making an essential corpus available to the international scholarly community in an appropriate digital environment–an open source website. This is realized through translations in other languages than the original texts, such as French. The second part of the project is designed to be both the study of the functioning of scholia as hypertextual logic, and a contemplation and reflection of how online publishing conforms to this hypertextual logic.
While at the CHS, Dr. Kolovou is looking forward utilizing the information collected through the CHS’s Homer Multitext program, as well as consulting the team working on Homer Multitext for advice on the methodology of her work. She also looks forward to discussing his project with our fellows of like-minded scholastic pursuit.
Dr. Kolovou is visiting under a grant, awarded to scholars around the world that could benefit from access to the Center’s library resources and from consulting and working with fellows on a short-term basis.
