H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopios Pavlopoulos, decorates Harvard Professor and Director of the CHS, Gregory Nagy


On Friday, January 18, 2019, H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, decorated Harvard University Professor of Classical Studies and of Comparative Literature & Director of the Center for Hellenic Studies, Mr. Gregory Nagy, with the Commander of the Order of Honour, for the worldwide breadth of his research, educational and writing contributions in the fields of Classics, and for his overall support to the Hellenic cultural heritage in general.
The President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos underlined Prof. Nagy’s emblematic studies in Classical Greek Poetry, which have always been centered on the Homeric Epic, and have ranked Prof. Nagy among the top Homerists in the world.
Prof. Nagy in reply to the President expressed his gratitude and his commitment to continuing his work, honoring the global heritage of the Hellenic civilization.
