In Memoriam: Dimitris Maronitis (1929-2016)

The Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece mourns the death of Dimitris Maronitis, an inspired teacher and friend. Dimitris Maronitis taught us Homer and a wide range of Greek authors, ancient and modern. He worked with the Center on several projects since its beginning in 2008.
Gregory Nagy, Director of the Center for Hellenic Studies, shared a few words:

It is for me a deep personal sorrow to learn that my dear friend Dimitris Maronitis has just died. As the writer of the introduction to the English-language edition of his unforgettable book on Homer, I feel all the more the loss of a true giant in our field of Classical literature. I already miss him sorely.
