Apply Now: 2014 Course Planning Seminars


We have had unprecedented demand for the seminars this year. If you are planning to offer one of the courses in fall 2014, but have not yet submitted an application, please contact us.
The CHS will host two seminars in June to plan the inter-institutional, collaborative courses for the fall semester:
June 7-9, 2014 
Latin Literature of the Late Republic with T. Corey Brennan (Rutgers)
Participants should plan to arrive on Friday, June 6. There will be a free day on Tuesday, June 10 and departures will be Thursday, June 12.
June 11, 2014 
Common day session for participants in both seminars
During the common day, participants in both the Latin and Greek seminars will meet to discuss Sunoikisis programs and pedagogical topics of interest to the group. Participants will also receive training in the technologies used to deliver the courses.
June 12-14, 2014 
Greek Comedy with Jeffrey Rusten (Cornell)
Participants should plan to arrive on Tuesday, June 10. There will be a free day on Sunday, June 15 and departures will be Monday, June 16.

common-day-session-2013Participation in each seminar will be limited to twelve faculty members. The seminars will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, with the following priorities:

  1. Those who will be offering the course for undergraduates at their institutions in the fall of 2014 will receive first priority.
  2. Second priority will go to new faculty members, i.e., those who are emerging from graduate programs to take up their first teaching posts.
  3. Those who have never attended a seminar sponsored by Sunoikisis will receive third priority.

Seminar participants or their sponsoring institutions will be responsible for the costs of travel to and from the CHS. All participants will receive a stipend of $500 and room and board at the CHS. Visit the Frequently Asked Questions page for more details.
The CHS will stream and record the course development seminars. In addition to completing the seminar application, applicants should also complete the media release form.
