Dialogue with Professor Nagy – Live Event in Boston and Webcast

Heroes in Tragedy: A presentation and dialogue with Professor Gregory Nagy

AllstonCHS-325x243HeroesX participants living in the Greater Boston area and learners around the world are invited to participate in a dialogue session led by Professor Nagy on Monday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. (EST).
Be introduced to the joy of reading ancient literature, and to seeing those ancient themes reflected in the works of our own time.  Incorporating materials from HeroesX (Hours 16-21), Professor Nagy will present an overview and participate in a dialogue with attendees on the social and cultural realities of ancient Greek hero cult as expressed through the medium of tragedy.
What does the 1966 Elvis movie “Spinout” have to do with the ancient Greek tragedy Hippolytus? How will an eligible though reluctant young bachelor make the transition to the “next stage” of life?  Come to learn more about this classic text and to take a deeper look into the tragic nature of all Greek heroes.
