CHS in Greece Workshop
Dates: December 20-21, 2o14
The Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece (CHS GR), and the Association of Philologists from the Argolid co-organize the second workshop on “Digital resources of knowledge and their contribution to philology”. The workshop will be held on Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 21, 2014, at the Center for Hellenic Studies in Nafplion. Fifteen participants were selected on a strictly first-come, first-served basis and will attend the workshop.
The objective of this workshop is to introduce Greek philologists to concepts of digital literacy and information fluency (ability/competence in the use of digital resources) while focusing on reliable digital resources of humanistic content in Greek and English. The participants will become familiar with the digital environment of open-access resources and resources from Harvard’s digital library that they can access through the CHS GR, and will learn about digital tools they can incorporate into their educational work. Participants will engage in this procedure using their personal laptops and will develop skills of digital literacy by visiting the data bases discussed during the workshop. Certificates of attendance will be issued to participants who have completed all sections. Due to popular demand the workshop will be held again in the future.
The workshop on “Digital resources of knowledge and their contribution to philology” is coordinated by Maria Konstantopoulou, librarian-archivist, MSc in Cultural Informatics, The “Fougaro” Library – “Anthos”, Giorgos Trapalis, linguist, Electronics and Information Services, Member of the Arsakeio Digital Support Group and Matina Goga, Communications Coordinator and Programs Development at the Center of Hellenic Studies in Nafplion.
