New CHS Publication – Poetry as Initiation: The Center for Hellenic Studies Symposium on the Derveni Papyrus

The Center for Hellenic Studies is pleased to announce the publication of Poetry as Initiation: The Center for Hellenic Studies Symposium on the Derveni Papyrus by Ioanna Papadopoulou and Leonard Muellner, eds. through Harvard University Press. The Derveni Papyrus is the oldest known European “book.” It was meant to accompany the cremated body in Derveni Tomb A but, by a stroke of luck, did not burn completely. Homer Multitext

The Homer Multitext project, the first of its kind in Homeric studies, presents the textual transmission of the Iliad and Odyssey in a historical framework. It offers free access to a library of texts and images, a machine-interface to that library and its indices, and tools to allow readers to discover and engage with the Homeric tradition. The HMT team has always provided open access to their source images and editorial work. Read more
